AN APPRECIATION

EIGHTEEN years had passed
since the death of Isabella
Valancy Crawford. There was
not a trace of her work save a
few copies of the paper-cov
ered "Old Spookses Pass,"
which had found friends here and there, though
at the time of its author s death there was no
body of opinion to create a sense of its value.
Many of her poems were lost in the old files
of the Toronto daily newspapers.
